In 1972, a young man named Danny Russell Adams (Russ) who had been playing music in the bars and honky-tonks decided to go to church at the request of his wife Peggy. His parents had taught him about Jesus and Russ knew that his life was missing something. The words that were spoken by Brother JC Moses sank deep into Russ’ heart that Sunday. Soon after, Russ gave his heart and life to Jesus Christ. With his love for music and a new love in Christ, it did not take long for Russ to start using his talents for God.

Russ, his sister Juanita, her husband Steve Wright and their brother Donnie began singing as a group and thus the Adams Family was born. Donnie’s beautiful tenor voice, Juanita's incredible alto and Steve’s wonderful bass range mixed seamlessly with Russ’ lead voice to create overwhelming harmony while Donnie played the piano and Russ accompanied on the acoustic guitar.

With a van and PA system in hand, the family traveled almost every weekend from church to church ministering the Gospel in song. Their travels often took them out of state and many times the offerings were barely enough to get back home but no matter where they went God always provided a way.

The group cut their first album (yes, album) in 1977 and began opening for groups such as the Hinson’s. Eventually, as work in their local churches became more necessary, Donnie stepped away and the group reduced their hectic schedule. As time progressed, Russ and Peggy’s son Kane began to take interest in the bass guitar and then drums. Soon Kane was playing with the group as their drummer.

Also growing up during this time was their daughter Susan. Susan’s tremendous voice began to mature and soon she began singing with the group. In 1994 God lead the group to help with the building of a mission church in Hamilton, Ohio. Soon the Glory Road Church was constituted and settled in the village of New Miami on the outskirts of Hamilton. In 1995, Susan married David Longworth who could play lead guitar and had an inward desire to use that talent for God. God then called Steve and Juanita into a new ministry as Pastors of a church.

God then brought Matthew McIntosh into the group’s life. Matt can play a multitude of instruments; however, has been the group’s bass player ever since they met. Matt later engineered and produced two projects for the Adams Family. In 2004, Matt married Jessica (Keith) McIntosh who now uses her musical talents in singing and playing the piano with the Adams Family.

Each member brings diversity and diligence in attempting to minister to those who are in need of the Gospel message. Their goal is that people will be uplifted, encouraged and turned on to Jesus as the Holy Spirit moves through the songs and hopefully into the hearts of the listener. May God richly bless you and thank you for getting to know the Adams Family a little better.
